Mojacar Fiesta 2012, On August the 28th the Fiesta in honour of Mojacar's patron saint, Saint Agustin commences. The festivities include daily sporting events and attractions through the evening such as "Corridas de Cintas". The "Floral Offering" sees Mojacar women in traditional dress carrying their water pitchers full of water and flowers from the fountain of the church. On the last night there are parties held throughout the village with music and dancing, finailizing with a large firework display from the village square

Where is Mojacar..?,Mojacar is nestled on the coast of Andalucia in southern spain. The old village built on a hill, surrounded by the cabrera mountain range, within minutes of the blue flag beaches on the Mojacar Playa.

Beach Culture, Check out the blue flag beaches along the Mojacar Playa. Perfect for families, patrolled by life guards and great activities from wind surfing for the beginners and kite surfing. Don't forget that July and August in Mojacar is very hot. So "Slip" "Slap" "Slop" on that sun protection cream for the whole family. Sun costumes are available at local supplies along the beach for the younger ones. Have a shade brake and take in some resfeshments at the local eaterys...enjoy!

A Remote Beach, Manaca beach offers great secluded beaches only four kilometres past the Hotel Indalo. A car is recommended.

The Beach at Night, Take in the evening with a meal at one of the old established beach bars along the central beach area. Watch out for Flamenco evenings on the beach front. These are advertised close to the event so keep your eyes open.

Local Artists, Walking around you might be able to bump into a local artist. They are often in the old village near the castle. If you are not so lucky, take time out to browse around the small gift shops in the village and purchase some hand made jewelry or a water colour sketch. Galleries are few at present though watch this space!

Bedar, This quiet village offers some great artists, Please keep your eyes open for posters promoting exhibitions in your area.

Mojacar Shopper, We all like to shop. Either for that special event or maybe for ourselves.
Around Mojacar there are many boutiques and shops. Along the beach you will find fashion boutiques and craft shops. Take time to explore as the hidden ones often have that something different to purchase, and at a good price.
Supermarkets are very local now. In July and August, its best to shop locally, or even rise early and get the deals at the market stalls for your groceries.

Markets, Check out the markets in the area. Get there for eight when they are setting up, and get the deals. It won't be to hot at this time of the morning!

Living in Mojacar, and the levante valley means that you are never to far from restaurants. This time of year, July and August, Everyone tends to eat at a later time of the day, nine or ten at night, So do not be surpised to see the restaurant empty early evening.

So from beach dining to mountain top dining in the cabrera. There is alot to explore, whatever time of day there are always events on the playa!.

Wine Connoisseur, While the supermarkets and various smaller outlets have a great selection of wines during the summer months. There are some wine specialists and imports (yes wine importers to Spain!) of french and world wines. We'll will be promoting these later on in the year.
Please take time to explore the many different types of Spanish wines on the market, trying to keep to single grapes and not mixed. Rose wines are popular in the hot summer months. You might even find a dessert wine(stickies)in some speciality shops!
